Crash and burn….almost

Yep. The hard disk of my laptop has crashed. Luckily not the whole disk crashed just the part with the MBR (Master Boot Records) and some of my OS. This was a problem. I have a lot of data on my disk I really needed. and because it’s a laptop disk I can’t just take it out and put it in my desktop to access it. Luckily I have two partitions. one for my OS the other for my Data. The OS partition was damaged. I did everything I could to restore the OS partition without formating it. I still had a lot of mails i needed on that partition. Afterward I couldn’t install windows on the OS partition. Ubuntu however could be installed on the free space. So I did
Using Ubuntu and a external hard disk I backed up everything I could save. Restoring the disk, trying to install windows, installing ubuntu and saving all my data took three days with very little sleep. Yep my disk was damaged that much. After saving my data I formatted my disk TWICE. Afterward partition it in two and reinstalled windows. I’m using this disk until I have the money to buy a new laptop disk. All my data is on the external disk. So if the disk crashes again I don’t lose anything
To bad for me I did not get all the data that was on my OS partition. All my mail was saved but some of the documents I was working on where lost. This means I’m not gonna meet a deadline for a project I’m working on. The only way I can is if I forget to sleep for a couple of days. I don’t think that’s a good Idea. I already had my brother correct me in the use of a certain program possibility. My brother is the creative one (architect student and draws very good) and I’m the computer freak (give me a problem and I solve it). Now if I suffer from sleep deprivation how am I suppose to complete the project with a good result. AND I don’t think it’s good for my health.
So I think I’ll get myself a good couple of nights rest and then work my ass off to finish my project. So in a couple of days it’s back to my poison. Lots and lots of coffee.
